It's going to be fun to watch the thinly disguised flare grow out on Billy Boy's front feet!

Billy's soles looked fearfully flat, but a little exploration with the hoof pick around the tip of the frog exposed lots of chalky, exfoliating material.  This should shed out quickly.  My guess is that when it does, Billy might be tender, even though he should wind up with some collateral groove depth.  We fitted him with EasyBoot Bares and 12mm Comfort Pads for riding.  Billy will benefit from Oxine soaks and general diligent hoof hygiene to improve frog health and help open his contracted heels.

Billy is making nice progress, although hoof soaking would accelerate healing.  His heels have expanded, his hoof wall is healthy and resilient.  His right front is still growing heel faster than toe, probably because of the lingering thrush. I gave Billy a heel bevel to encourage a heel first landing and a slightly longer stride.
