Karen's colt, Voltaire, a 2 yr. old Percheron cross (a
PMU baby), goes to school. This was his second time in the roundpen.
What a super colt...he's a great spokeshorse for PMU babies!
My own colt, Mixer, third ride, first time in a
snaffle bit. First two shots, paying close attention; second two
shots, moving the front feet around; last shot, first time at a lope under
saddle..look at those reins flappin'! Those are Leroy's ears in the
first pic!
Horses are good for all ages! Johnny No Spots
shows Jeanne how to pet a horse; Mixer's pretty sure there's a carrot
hidden somewhere.
Paige has her first horsemanship lesson. With
Mixer in the roundpen, learning how to put on and tie a rope halter, and
bareback up on Big Bad Leroy Brown, with two fistfuls of mane:
Mixer weighs nothing on a lead rope. I walk naturally, swinging my
arms, with lots of slack between us; he keeps the slack in the rope, and
gets in perfect step with me.
Me, age 15, at the Junior Grand Nationals at the Cow Palace on Dee Dee.
My trainer shortened my stirrups to try to disguise my short horse...my
feet were numb by the end of this equitation class. Paul Newman sits
reading a script just to the left of my back; his daughter cleaned up!
